Triumph TR6 cars have had a strong competition history starting with a car built by Group 44, then a competition arm of the American division of British Leyland, manufacturer of the Triumph TR6.
A TR6 Driven by group 44 president and pro driver John McComb, and Bob Tulius, earned invitations to the SCCA National Championship in 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975 winning ‘D’ production National Championship in 1975. Famous actor, Paul Newman, won the National Championship SCCA in 1976 driving a TR6.
This Triumph TR6 was sold new in Greenville, SC and has a fully documented history since. It has had only 4 owners in the last 47 years that dutifully maintained and enhanced this Mallard Green Triumph. The 3rd owner had the motor rebuilt with performance upgrades including twin Weber carbs and mild street cam. The 4th and current owner purchased the TR6 from Northshore Sportscars in 2014 because he was impressed with the looks and strong performance. A year or so later he became interested in vintage racing after attending one of our race dates and the rest is history as the saying goes. The transition from street car to full vintage race prep proceeded over a few Winters work. All of the required safety components are in place including Fuel Safe fuel, cell, Firecharger onboard fire system, Corbeau race seat, 6 point harness, catch tanks, and cutoff switches.
