Supporting our Communities

In this difficult, COVID 19 impacted time, VSCDA will be asking its membership and friends to assist those in need at the areas where we race. The first appeal, below, is from Ron Soave and Jeff Porasik, Co-Chairs of our two annual events at Blackhawk. Our plan is to post an appeal in the near future for a charity in each of our race areas. Feel free to let Stacey know if you have a suggested charity.

Alex Rorke VSCDA President

VSCDA friends,

As difficult as these unprecedented times are, many in our communities struggle in the best of times and are absolutely devastated in COVID America. VSCDA’s traditional charity beneficiary for our June and October races at Blackhawk, the Rockford Rescue Mission, has seen food and hygiene supply donations dwindle to a small fraction of what they were prior to March. People they serve are struggling just to survive. The rescue mission provides food, shelter, training, and counseling to those most in need to help them re-enter society with the skills and strength to survive and prosper. The primary source of funds for our contribution has been visitor entrance fees at Blackhawk. It is likely that we will have very little, if any, spectator gate at our June event, and the Mission needs help now. We are asking that you donate any amount that you can through the VSCDA link below and support our community cause. Any amount goes a very long way towards helping those in need.

Thank you, and stay safe,

Ron Soave and Jeff Porasik
